Renowned sculptor Robert is stunned when he is diagnosed with cancer of the liver and given six months to live. In the midst of physical decline and mental turmoil, he meets Maya, an Indian marine biologist who seems to come from a different reality.
Against all odds, Robert is put on the transplant list, giving rise to new hope for the future. But as that future becomes less certain, Robert must confront the strange agony of finding a love that has evaded him his entire life - just as that life seems about to be taken from him.
